“A Puño Limpio” Results from 9-7-12

Coliseo Ruben Zayas Montanez, Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico – Hometown welterweight up and comer Kennith Diaz (7-0, 6 KOs), halted Ricardo Smith (6-1, 1 KO) in round three. Diaz came out aggressively in the first round landing crisp shots and eventually knocking down Smith. Smith seemed reluctant to exchange punches in the second and his left eye was nearly shut in the process. The corner of Smith threw in the towel because of his closed left eye in the third round.

Osenohan Vazquez (6-1-1, 2 KOs) and Anthony Sanchez (7-1-1, 5 KOs) fought to a six round draw. Vazquez got the better of the two fighters with his pin point shots in the first round. The power punches by Vazquez  in the second won him the round. In the third  Sanchez continued to receive telling blows. Round four was a hard round to score as both boxers fought very tactical. Sanchez had his best round in the fifth landing hard punches. The ring mat was a slippery wet mess in the six and final round as both junior welterweight fighters fell on a few occasions.

Rey Ojeda (10-0, 5 KOs) stopped Regino Canales (4-3, 1 KO) in the fifth round of an exciting scheduled six round lightweight fight. Ojeda won the majority of the opening round by using his jab but at the near end of the round, Canales caught Ojeda with a solid shot. Canales pressed forward and cut Ojeda on the left eye in round two. In the third round Ojeda cornered Canales on the ropes and landed his shots. Ojeda went down by a barrage of punches thrown by Canales in the fourth. In the opening minute of round five Ojeda dropped Canales with a right hand. Canales got up on unsteady legs but the referee let it continue. A couple of more power shots later by Ojeda, promted the referee to finally stop the contest.

Undercard:

Giovanni Rodriguez (8-0, 5 KOs) remained undefeated with a fourth round stoppage over Daniel Rodriguez (1-6, 1 KO). Giovanni Rodriguez used his height and reach to beat the smaller Daniel Rodriguez. It was a scheduled junior middleweight contest.

Jesus Solar (3-0, 1 KO) recorded his third victory with a unanimous decision over Christian Soto (1-2). Solar dropped Soto in the final seconds of the last round. The junior flyweight bout was a four round contest.

Jeffrey Ramos (3-0, 1 KO) defeated fellow lightweight Emmanuel Class (0-1) by a four round unanimous decision. Ramos scored a knockdown in the second round of a crowd pleasing match.

Junior flyweights Alexis Diaz (0-0, 1) and Gustavo Ortiz (0-1,1) battled to a four round draw. Both boxers thrilled the crowd fighting in at close range mostly throughout the fight. Between rounds one and two Diaz had his tongue ring removed and as a result, the bout was delayed for ten minutes.

John Karl Sosa (3-0, 3 KOs) defeated Victor Vega (0-1) by TKO one second into the third round. Vega refused to come out for the third round after absorbing punishment throughout the first two rounds. The fight was fought at the welterweight limit.
