Anthony Marsella Jr. Wins by First Round Knockout

Mayweather Protege improves to 2-0

At Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI, Anthony Marsella Jr. improved to 2-0 (1KO) with a quick one punch knockout of Bardraiel Smith, 45 seconds into timg_1976he first round. Smith, who dropped to 0-2, came in seven pounds lighter than Marsella and was outmatched from the opening bell. Marsella, a Rhode Island native who has been training at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, landed a straight right hand that dropped Smith to one knee. Smith beat the count of ten but referee Joey Lupino waved off the fight as Smith staggered.

“A lot of hard work went into preparing for this fight but I’d rather get paid for 45 seconds of work than for four, six or 12 rounds,” said Marsella.
