Boxing Scoop: Haye, Dawson/Ward & more

*David Haye gets license to fight

Both David Haye (25-2, 23 KOs) and Dereck Chisora (15-3, 9 KOs) are now officially licensed to fight one another. Haye recently picked up his Luxembourg Boxing Federation license while Chisora was given his license last month. Haye and Chisora will square off on July 14th at West Ham United in London. The fight is billed as “License to Thrill”.

*Dawson – Ward tickets on sale
Tickets go on sale today for Dawson/Ward’s “World Champions – Made in America”. Andre “SOG” Ward (25-0, 13 KOs) will put his Ring/WBA/WBC super middleweight titles on the line, against Ring/WBC light heavyweight champion, “Bad” Chad Dawson (31-1, 17 KOs). The Oracle Arena in Oakland, California is where the fight will take place. Pro Boxing Insider also wants to congratulate Andre Ward and his lovely wife Tiffiney on the birth of their newborn child Micah “Champ” Ward who was born yesterday(June 21). It is the couples fourth child.

*WBO judges ruled in favor of Pacquiao
All five WBO international judges scored the Pacquiao/Bradley fight for Pacquiao. A review of the fight was conducted by WBO president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel. Valcarcel called on five WBO judges to view the fight and judge it for themselves. The judges scores were 118-110, 117-111, 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113, all in favor of Pacquiao. However, Valcarcel stressed that the original decision of the judges(Duane Ford, C.J. Ross, and Jerry Roth) cannot be revoked by the WBO.

*Gamboa and Top Rank go separate ways
Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs) and Top Rank have legally parted ways. Gamboa, reportedly bought out his contract from Top Rank and the amount is unknown. Problems between Gamboa and Top Rank became apparent when Gamboa skipped out on two press conferences, on a scheduled HBO televised fight against Brandon Rios. Top Rank then filed a federal lawsuit claiming that Gamboa broke a “breach of contract”. A stipulation to dismiss the case was filed by Top Rank yesterday and made way for Gamboa and Top Rank to go their own seperate ways. It is rumored that Gamboa will be signing with Floyd Mayweather’s, Mayweather Promotions.

*Jessie Vargas signs with Top Rank
Out goes one fighter, and in comes another. Top Rank signs unbeaten welterweight prospect Jessie Vargas (19-0, 9 KOs) to a promotional contract. Vargas, who was signed to Mayweather Promotions, will now be training at the Top Rank Gym. The transition was an easy one for Vargas because like Top Rank, he is also from Las Vegas.
