Davies: I’ll steal the show with big KO in Germany

Ohara Davies will fight for the first time as a pro on foreign soil in Rostock on March 21 live on Sky Sports – and the Lightweight blaster has promised to deliver another big KO win.

Davies takes his place on the huge World title show where Juergen Braehmer defends his WBA World Light Heavyweight title against Robin Krasniqi, with the Hackney man one of the first of Eddie Hearn’s young stars to benefit from Matchroom Boxing’s deal with Sauerland Promotions.

The 23 year old has blasted out four of his five opponents inside the distance so far since making his debut in April, and he’s promised the German fans that there will be more fireworks when he makes his overseas bow.

“I feel great and I am really excited about fighting in Germany,” said Davies. “When I got the call it was total excitement. I haven’t fought abroad as a pro yet but I have done it as an amateur. It will be a great experience to do it as a pro and I am fighting on the undercard of a World title for the first time. It will be a really big show.

“I don’t think it will be any different from fighting abroad as an amateur; as long as I have worked hard and am confident in my skill then I don’t see it being any different.

“It will be six rounder. Eddie has said I will be getting a tougher opponent who should take me through the rounds, but the way I am looking in the gym and in sparring, I really doubt the fight will go more than three rounds.

“It is a great experience which should help me later in my career. I have to go there earlier in fight week than I would if I am fighting in the UK, so if I am doing it now then it will be something I am more used to if I do it later in my career.

“I want German fight fans to remember me as a skilful, exciting fighter to watch. I want to leave that impression on them.

“I am 5-0 and I am happy. I am glad to be with Matchroom because I am busy, and that is what I asked for.”
