Deaf boxer Raymond Merrill talks about turning pro

Boxing is hard.  Trying to make a living avoiding punches from another person who is doing his best to knock you unconscious is something few of us can do.  Now imagine doing that while unable to hear.  That’s what Raymond Merrill must deal with every time he steps through the ropes.

We spoke with the soon to be pro to get his thoughts on what it takes to make it in a sport that has little sympathy for people with disabilities.  To his credit, he is not expecting people to take it easy on him, and he certainly won’t be giving them a break either.

His trainer, Jeff Mayweather also chimes in on working with the young fighter.
