Dewey Cooper talks about his draw with Peter Aerts at GFC 1

By Jody Kohn

Dewey Cooper has been through some wars over the years.  As a veteran of K-1 (not to mention boxing and MMA), and muay thai contests all over the world, “The Black Kobra” has fought against the best fighters in the world.  Yet somehow, he had never crossed paths with the legendary Peter Aerts.  That all changed on May 29 when the two met at the GFC 1 card in Thailand.

Ultimately, in a fight most saw Cooper as a big underdog in, he would earn a draw with his much larger foe.  And many could argue that he deserved a win due to a first round exchange in which Aerts was not penalized for turning his back on his opponent, and was instead allowed time to recover without receiving  a standing 8 count.

We spoke to Cooper while he was getting ready to resume training inside the Mayweather Boxing Club to get his thoughts on the contest, as well as his entire experience with GFC.
