Oquendo defeats Hawkins by TKO in round 7

 

Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, IN – Former world title challenger, Fres Oquendo (35-7, 23 KOs) defeated Robert Hawkins (23-20, 7 KOs) by a TKO in the seventh round. “Fast” Fres was in control throughout the fight using his jab and lateral movement. Oquendo registered two knockdowns in the third with thumping bodyshots. Hawkins would not come out for the eighth round and the fight was awarded to Oquendo.

 

In an exciting back and forth action fight, Dimar Ortuz (5-0, 4 KOs) defeated Donta Woods (8-1, 7 KOs) by a six round unanimous decision. Every round was contested at close range with both fighters not giving an inch. Ortuz pulled away in the final round when he scored two knockdowns, by throwing and landing combinations. The judges saw it 58-54, 57-55, and 58-55 and the bout was fought at the cruiserweight limit.
