Purse Bid: Linares & Zlaticanin reach agreement on terms

The purse bid for the World Boxing Council lightweight championship, scheduled for today, is cancelled, as Golden Boy Promotions representing Jorge Linares (40-3-0, 27 Ko’s), from Venezuela, and Dibella Entertainment, for number one ranked Dejan Zlaticanin (21-0-0, 14 Ko’s), from Montenegro, have reached agreement on terms.

Linares conquered the WBC title after defeating Mexican, Javier Prieto, by KO in the 4th round in December 2014. He made the first defense of his crown in May 2015, then he starred in one of the most dramatic fights of the year against Kevin Mitchell, gaining victory in the 10th round after an amazing fightback. Linares then defeated Ivan Cano by KO in the 4th round.

Zlaticanin, won an important victory in 2014 after defeating Scotland’s Ricky Burns, conquering the WBC international title. In his last appearance, Dejan defeated the tough Ukrainian, Ivan Redkach, in the 4th round winning the eliminatory clash, to become mandatory rival.

Further details of this expected clash will be released during the next days.
