Ricky Hatton trades his boxing gloves for a leotard

Ricky Hatton made his return to the spotlight Saturday when he took to the stage doing his best Robbie Williams impersonation.  In true British fashion, Hatton delighted the UK crowd.  Meanwhile those of us on this side of the pond are likely frightened.

Recently retired, Hatton performed ‘Let Me Entertain You’ during the BBC1 fundraising event Let’s Dance For Comic Relief.  Three months after suffering a knockout loss in his final fight, it was a surprising for many to see Hatton tackle a different role.  In addition to Hatton, Dean Gaffney and Tim Vine also performed on the show.

Hatton, who was wearing attire inspired by Kiss for his number, admitted that he was a little worried the endeavor may damage his tough guy persona.

“Morning.dance day.please don’t take the piss tommorow.ha ha,” he said via Twitter.

If he was worried, it didn’t show while he was on stage.  He started off in a boxing robe before quickly exposing the special outfit and launching into his routine.

It was certainly a performance that was well received by those in attendance.  Fortunately for Hatton, those spectators were British.

Ricky Hatton retired as one of the most popular boxers in the history of the United Kingdom.  His last fight was his first back as part of an unsuccessful comeback attempt.  In that fight, he suffered a knockout loss in the ninth round at the hands of Vyacheslav Senchenko.  He retires for the secong time with a record of 45-3.  He most famously came up short in a pair of attempts against the biggest names in boxing, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
