Stiverne vs. Wilder Full Final Press Conference

By Jody Kohn

In one of the more entertaining press conferences you will ever see, Bermane Stiverne and Deontay Wilder addressed the media for the final time before they meet in the center of the ring on Saturday night at the MGM in Las Vegas, NV.

Anytime Don King is handling things, you know it will get interesting.  This one didn’t disappoint.  King rambled on for what seemed like forever, as he thanked the troops, wished Sen. Harry Reid a speedy recovery, recalled Bermane Stiverne’s fights with Chris Oreoli (that’s what it sounded like he said), and in general said things that left the assembled media scratching their heads.

Bernard Hopkins also had his chance to speak.  While celebrating his accomplishments on this, his 50th birthday, he talked about how this was an example of what boxing needs to do going forward, giving the fans the fights they want to see.

But as it should be, the main event fighters stole the show.  Deontay Wilder struck first, promising to bring the title home with him, the entire time showing little respect to the current champion.  Stiverne, to his credit was silent as the insults were flung his way.

Stiverne, once he had the floor, after a slow start, got rolling himself.  He gave back as much as he took, questioning the credentials of his highly touted challenger.

Check out how it all went down and be sure to watch how it unfolds on Saturday night!
