Tyson Fury: I’m Starting To Feel Ready For a Title Shot

By Phil D. Jay  (BoxingScene.com)

Highly-ranked heavyweight Tyson Fury (18-0, 13KOs) is focusing on his own world title mission in his own time, amidst rumours that the Irish champion could fight for a world title this year against Wladimir Klitschko.

Klitschko named the 24 year-old as one of the more likely fighters in the frame to face him later in the year, althought Fury wants to wait and put himself into a position where he can bring the Ukrainian over to the UK.

“I’m starting to feel like I’m ready for the title and I know that I will get my chance,” Fury told The Daily Mirror.

“I think that I could get a Klitschko brother now, but that is not part of the plan and when I get my chance I want to win.

“I’m not in the boxing business to make up the numbers and just be another loser on the Klitschkos’ record – when I get my chance I will win it and keep it.

“I did a better job on Dereck Chisora than Vitali Klitschko did when they met for the world title fight, and I’m waiting for my chance when the time is right.”

Fury now faces American Vinny Maddalone on Saturday night in Somerset and knows he has to put on a show to get the US public interested in a potential fight with Wladimir in 2013.

The 6ft 9ins brute has all the attributes to be a real contender to take over the heavyweight mantle from the belt-hoarding Klitschko’s, but needs to impress with a win over the tough ‘Italian Stallion’ this weekend.
