WBA International title on the line when Nielsen meets Tahdooahnippah on March 14

Patrick Nielsen (23-1, 11 KOs) will be fighting for more than just pride when the 23 year-old southpaw takes on George Tahdooahnippah (34-1-2, 24 KOs) in his super middleweight debut on March 14 at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen.

‘’We’re delighted to announce that Patrick will now be fighting for the WBA International Super Middleweight Championship,’’ said promoter Nisse Sauerland.

‘’This is a real signal of intent. Patrick has not moved up to 168lbs to make up the numbers. He is here to challenge for and win world titles. If he can beat Tahdooahnippah and claim the WBA International belt it will improve his rankings and move him into world title contention.’’

‘’This is a great opportunity for me and one I will grab with both hands,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’The belt is mine! There is no way I’m leaving Ballerup without it. I want to fight the biggest names in the division and challenge for world titles. Winning the WBA International title is the first step I must take to achieve this.’’

Patrick Nielsen will be live on TV3 Sport 1 in Denmark from 21.15 to discuss his WBA International Championship challenge and to preview the channel’s big night of live international boxing, featuring WBO number one contender Tyson Fury’s heavyweight showdown with Christian Hammer and Carl Frampton’s IBF World Super Bantamweight title defence against Chris Avalos.
