By Rob Soucy

WBO Cruiserweight champion Olekasander Usyk 11-0 (10 ko) overcame a rather lackluster start to overwhelm Thabiso Michunu by 9th round TKO. The southpaw Usyk was in control of the fight from the opening bell and probably could have ended the it much earlier.

Usyk was content on boxing and using his legs for the half of the fight. In round six, Usyk landed a left uppercut that dropped Thabiso to one knee. Thabiso, who fell to 17-3 (11 ko) beat the count and finished the round.

In the 9th round, Usyck knocked Thabiso down again with in overhand left to the temple. Thabiso got up and was able to counter Usyk off the ropes with two hard straight left hands.

The end of the bout came as Usyk landed a looping left hand that dropped Thabiso to all fours as the fight was waved off by referee Lou Moret without a count.
