So far, 50 Cent has had more than his share of ups and downs as a boxing promoter. Now, it appears in an effort to boost up his struggling boxing promotion business, he wants to step in the ring himself and be a part of a pay-per-view.
He wouldn’t be climbing into the ring as a complete novice. He did a little amateur boxing in his younger days. All he needs is a willing opponent to take the challenge. Obviously, taking on a professional fighter would likely be a mistake, so he has set his sights on a fellow rapper to test his skills against.
Flo Rida is a boxing fan as well, and he is willing to take on the challenge of 50 Cent if the details can be worked out. He responded to the challenge on his Instagram account by simply saying, “@50Cent, Let’s Go!”
When speaking to MyFoxNY, 50 Cent mentioned the strong connection between hip-hop and boxing. Perhaps because of this, and to bring himself attention of course, he is looking towards rappers who are relevant today to take him on in the ring. When discussing which artist he would choose to challenge, it was Flo Rida who was mentioned.
“Flo Rida would be the toughest guy to fight because he trains that way,” Jackson said. “It would be real entertaining. We need to get pay per view going right now. Let me call Flo Rida, let’s see what we can do!”
Agreeing to a fight via Instagram, and actually scheduling a fight, are two different things. This is hardly the first time two celebrities have agreed to a fight through the media. Fortunately, the public has almost always been spared actually having these fights go through. It’s unlikely this contest will come true either. After all, by just talking about it, the celebrities get the benefit of the media attention without the risk of actually getting their ass beat.
