Mayweather-Alvarez to be shown in movie theaters

By Michele Emrick

Once again, fans who can’t make it out to the biggest pay-per-view of the year will have another option.  On Sept. 14, when pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul Alvarez have a junior middleweight unification bout, it will be available at movie theaters across the country.

Golden Boy Promotions and NCM Fathom Events have worked together in recent years to bring some of the biggest fights to the big screen, and they will be doing so once again when they make “The One” pay-per-view card available at about 550 theaters across the nation.

The fight will be shown in HD, and will provide the same broadcast that people ordering at home would see.  It also will include another highly anticipated match up between Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse in a junior welterweight championship contest.

“I love that so many of my fights have been shown in movie theaters,” said Mayweather, who has had all of his recent fights shown in theaters. “It’s something that I wanted to bring to the fans for a long time. It’s my job to give the fans the best entertainment possible.”

For fans interested in going to a theater to take in the action, go to the NCM Fathom website at www.FathomEvents.com for a list of theaters who will be carrying the action.  Prices will vary from place to place, but will be significantly cheaper than ordering from home.
