It was packed inside the Mayweather Boxing Club as Floyd Mayweather and his Money Team held open workouts and gave interviews as part of media day in an effort to promote the upcoming blockbuster pay-per-view involving Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
It is going to be a busy night on Sept. 14, as almost every member of The Money Team will see action. In addition to Mayweather, Ishe Smith will defend his IBF junior middleweight title against Carlos Molina in a fight that had to be resheduled after Smith suffered a cut in training.
Making his debut for the team is Brit Ashley Theophane (33-5), who will be taking on Pablo Cesar Cano in the opener of the pay-per-view.
In addition to the more established fighters, some of the younger talents will look to raise their stock and remain among the ranks of the unbeaten. Lanell Bellows (5-0-1) and Ronald Gavril (6-0) make quick turnarounds after fighting just this past weekend in California. Luis Arias is looking to move his mark to 7-0. Also, amateur standout Andrew Tabiti looks to keep the momentum going following his knockout win in his pro debut in May.
It was mostly just for show, but all of the team went through the paces on the heavy bag, speed bag, as well as doing some pad work. In between, they took questions from the media that had assembled from all over the world. Here is some of the video we took from the day’s events.
