Fight fans and fitness fanatics will get a rare chance to be put through their passes by four-time world boxing champion Ricky Hatton next month when he hosts his Hatton Academy workshop on the Emerald Isle for the first time.
Over the course of three hours ‘The Hitman’ will show participants the circuits he used during his glittering career at the City Centre Gym in Belfast on October 17.
“I’ve always liked Belfast as it’s a place where people really know their boxing and I’m sure it’ll be a great day for everyone that comes along,” Ricky said.
“It will be nice to spend some time with people who have supported me in my career and are keen to learn to learn new ways that they can keep fit. Hopefully I can teach them a few of the tricks that served me so well in the ring.
“My boxer Ryan Burnett is fighting on the Carl Frampton undercard a couple of days later as well so I’m very much looking forward to what I think will be a great week.”
As well as Burnett’s appearance at the Odyssey Arena, Ricky’s Belfast workshop also coincides with the launch of the Hatton Academy in Ireland.
Hatton Academy, which launched to huge success earlier this year, offers personal trainers and fitness instructors the opportunity to enhance their skills and teaching skills by using boxing techniques.
Jon Eade, Hatton Academy’s training and educational director, added: “This isn’t just a chance to train with Ricky, which is a huge honour, it’s also an opportunity to learn about what the Academy does and how it can help them with their own training regimes.”
