Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade won the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight World Championship on Saturday night with a 12-round decision over Vanes Martirosyan at the America Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Although dropped in the first round, Andrade dominated the balance of the fight to win by scores of 117-110, 114-113 and 112-115. The bout was telecast Live on HBO®
“I’m very proud of Demetrius, it’s been a long five years but he truly took advantage of the opportunity that was presented to him. He’s a real player now in the deep junior middleweight division and there’s big things on the horizon” said Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing, Andrade’s longtime promoter.
Demetrius Andrade is co promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Arthur Pelullo’s Banner Promotions.
With the win, the 25-year-old Andrade ran his undefeated record to
20-0-0 (13KO’s), while Martirosyan suffered his first defeat, 33-1-1 (21KO’s).
