Kid Galahad: “I’m going to make sure that 2014 is my year”

Kid Galahad is today celebrating his 24th birthday, but he is only focussed on winning the European title, live on Channel 5 from Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield, on March 22.

The undefeated former WBC International and British super bantamweight champion feels the momentum flowing from his last fight and is ready to put on another “tremendous performance” when he faces Sergio Prado for the vacant European super bantamweight title.

“I’m going to make sure that 2014 is my year,” Kid Galahad said.

“I finished last year strong by picking up the British title and next stop is starting 2014 strong by winning the European on March 22nd, with another tremendous performance.

“I turn 24 today but believe me the only present I want is that European title.”

The Qatar born Sheffield fighter, Galahad, extended his perfect record to 15 straight wins and picked up the coveted British title, by producing a stunning 10th round knockout over English champion Jazza Dickens in September.

Now, turning a year older, Galahad is out to give his fans another memorable night.

But Prado will be looking to spoil any such celebrations.

The former Spanish champion is the current EBU-EU champion and will be coming to Sheffield for nothing less than a win in Galahad’s backyard.

However, Galahad, who has won his last four contests by knockout, is uncompromisingly confident that he will produce another dazzling performance for his Yorkshire fans.

“I’d like to thank everyone for the birthday messages, I can feel myself developing and getting stronger all the time and I’m going to show that in this fight,” Galahad said.

“All I care about is my next fight and my fans and I’m going to show them what level I’m on at Ponds Forge.

“I feel like I could be facing anyone and believe me Prado is in for one tough night.”

Also scheduled is the second set of quarter-finals for the MaxiNutrition Knockoutas Danny McIntosh faces Travis Dickinson for the English light heavyweight title and Matty Clarkson meets Lee Duncan in an English light heavyweight title eliminator.

The undercard includes a whole host of talent, including former WBC world light welterweight champion Junior Witter, Sam O’maison, Tom Mcassey, Atif Shafiq, Karl Bell, David Howe and Callum Hancock.
