J’Leon Love reflects on recent win, has eyes set on May showdown against Periban

A couple weeks ago J’Leon Love (17-0) maintained his perfect record when he stopped the tough Vladine Biosse in the main event of the ShoBox card that took place in Verona, NY.  Now he has his eyes set on his next scheduled fight which will take place on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana card in Las Vegas.

Marco Antonio Periban (20-1-1) will be next in line for Love, and will represent a significant step up in class over his last couple of opponents.  In fact, in his last fight, Periban battled fellow Mayweather Promotions fighter Badou Jack to a draw last September.  The TMT fighter knows he has his work cut out for him, but is also extremely confident he has the tools necessary to get the job done.

“I’m more slick, I’m more skillful.  I’m confident in my ability and it should be a great night of boxing,” Love said.

The last time we saw Love on a Mayweather card was last May when he had his toughest fight to date against the always tough Gabriel Rosado.  In controversial fashion, Love captured the NABF title in a decision that many believed went the wrong way.  However, the decision was ultimately reversed to a no-contest when Love tested positive for a banned diuretic.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Love made the best out of the situation, refusing to let it get him down.  Instead he took his punishment and got back to work in his effort to gain the world championship.

A good place to start in that quest would be with a victory over Periban, a fighter who has previously fought unsuccessfully for a title against Sakio Bika.  If Love can emerge victorious from this fight, there is no doubt he is right in line to get his own shot.  Although the odds have not been released yet, when they are, they are likely to reflect what MyTopSportsbooks.com considers to be a very competitive fight.

J’Leon Love is poised to break out of the pack and become a top fighter in the sport.  Opening up a Floyd Mayweather pay-per-view against a former world title contender will give him the best platform to expose himself to fans, that he could ever hope for.  It’s up to him to leave them wanting more.

Check out what J’Leon has to say about this fight, his last fight, and also the Alfredo Angulo vs. Canelo Alvarez controversy.
