Jeff Mayweather doesn’t like the chances of Marcos Maidana against Floyd

By Jody Kohn

Don’t count Jeff Mayweather as one of the people who give Marcos Maidana much of a chance against his nephew when the two meet at the MGM in Las Vegas this weekend.

Mayweather doesn’t give the Argentinian fighter anything more than a “punchers chance” against Floyd, and even then, he doesn’t think it could happen.

“Floyd doesn’t overlook anyone.  Nobody trains harder.” Mayweather said when asked if there is a chance Floyd is overconfident.

It has been that legendary work ethic, along with his incredible fight IQ that has allowed Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win the first 45 fights of his career.  And although he has grown longer in the tooth, few people believe Maidana has the tools to pull of the upset.

Jeff Mayweather discusses the longevity of his nephew in a sport where few stay on top until their late 30’s, as well as how he predicts the fight will play out.

As for Maidana, he is looking to pull off his second consecutive upset.  Much like the Mayweather fight, few people gave him a shot against Adrien Broner when the pair met late last year.  In that fight, Maidana dominated, cruising to a unanimous decision.
