We caught up with Jessie Vargas at a local Starbucks to talk with the newly crowned world champion Jessie Vargas about what life has been like since he captured his title.
For Vargas, the time to enjoy his win is short as he will be right back in the ring on August 2 when he fights Anton Novikov in his first defense. That will mark back to back outings against Russians, as he defeated Khabib Allakhverdiev to win the WBA light welterweight title back in April.
As we talked to Vargas, he addressed the criticism that he receives from some for having some close, if not controversial decisions in many of his recent outings. Jessie disagrees, saying in his eyes, they have been clear victories.
