Reigning English Cruiserweight Champion Matty Askin has signed a promotional deal with Queensberry Promotions.
The big-hitting Blackpool star, ranked number five in Britain, aims to move quickly towards British and Commonwealth titles now that he is under top promoter Frank Warren and is confident he can claim the belts currently held by Ovill McKenzie.
Askin, 25, who is currently sparring sparring with WBC king Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, said, “I’m really excited to sign with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions.”
“Frank has guided some of Britain’s best ever like Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe and Naseem Hamed and more recently Paul Butler towards world titles. It’s every boxers dream to become a world champion and I feel confident that if anybody can guide me in my career then it’s Frank,”
“At the moment I am the English Champion, but I want to capture the British title which has always been my dream since I started boxing and with Frank’s expertise I’m sure I’ll get my chance to challenge for the British title and win it,”

“I hope to box this autumn and in preparation I have flown to Poland to spar with the WBC World Champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.”

A date and venue will be announced in due course with Askins debut on a Queensberry Promotions event.
