With every win the already sizable fan base of Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez (12-0) continues to grow. In his last outing, a one round demolition of Pablo Becerra, it seemed like half the crowd in attendance was there to see just him, despite such names as Javier Fortuna and Sergio Mora being featured on the card.
This weekend at Sunset Station in Las Vegas, Gutierrez will be back in action, and this time he will be looking to acquire the first title of his professional career. In the main event, he will be taking on the very tough Rashad Ganaway (14-4) for the WBC/USNBC lightweight championship. Should he be successful there, he will certainly have arrived as a star not only locally, but all over the world.
Check out what Chuy had to say about the fight when we spoke to him at the media day held for him inside Pound 4 Pound Gym in Las Vegas.
