By Andy Clark: Olympic Gold medallist Anthony Joshua breezed through his second professional fight, with a crushing victory over Paul Butlin, in Sheffield.
Butlin, who came second best against the likes of Chisora (twice), Sosnowski, Gerber and Banks, was no match for the ‘Future People’s Champion’.
Joshua rocked Butlin within the first minute of the first round, landing some thudding right hands to the head. Later in the round Joshua landed a quality body shot which seemingly buckled Butlin. Butlin fought on despite being significantly out classed and survived the first round.
Round two exploded into action after just twenty seconds as Joshua landed flush left hook, straight right hand, which opened up and nasty cut above Butlin’s left eye and sent Butlin crashing to the floor.
Butlin just about managed to convince the referee he was OK to continue, but Joshua closed the show moments late with accurate attacks to the body and head. Butlin’s corner threw in the towel and referee Howard Foster waived an end to the contest with just over two minutes left of the second round.
Next up for Joshua is a Nov 14th clash against an opponent to be confirm, topping the bill at the heavyweight Prizefighter tournament.
