Ava Knight continues to roll

Ava Knight  earned a unanimous decision victory Saturday in her rematch with Susana Vazquez.  The bout which took place in Chihuahua, Mexico was a rematch of their bout that took place in June in Mexico City.  In that bout, also won by Ava Knight in a unanimous decision, she was able to capture the WBC flyweight championship from Vaazquez.

The Chico, Calif. native has become a popular attraction south of the border.  She has reciprocated the love they have shown, commenting on multiple occasions how much she enjoys the fans and the treatment she has received.  In her last fight, also in Mexico, she captured the WBC diamond belt in a bout against Mariana Juarez.

Since her last victory, Ava Knight has had difficulty in finding someone to fight.  This is what led to the rematch with Susana Vazquez.  She was the only leading contender willing to step up to the plate, giving Knight no real option other than to agree to the rematch.

On her Twitter account, Knight offered some praise for he vanquished foe saying:  “Susana is a warrior and never backs down even when hurt.”

Knight (11-1-3  5 KO’s) has just fifteen career fights.  However, those have come against some of the biggest names in boxing, and she has more than held her own in those contests.  Wins over Mariana Juarez and Kaliesha West are among her most impressive victories.

Over the past year Ava Knight has become one of the most marketable and popular fighters in all of women’s boxing.  An impressive resume and model looks have elevated her to a level most never achieve.  Furthermore, she knows the value of self promotion, taking to Twitter and other forms of social media to get her name out there.  If she continues on her current path, it is likely she truly will live up to her nickname “The Lady of Boxing.”
