Brian Viloria to continue on with career after loss

After meeting with his manager, former WBO/WBA flyweight champion Brian Viloria has decided to continue with his boxing career.  He was last seen in the ring losing a split decision to Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada by split decision in Macau.

Twice before Viloria has recaptured his world titles following a defeat.  He has his eyes on doing it for a third time.  However, after taking a beating from Estrada, he is aware that he may have to work his way back up the ladder.

Milan Melindo appears to be the next fighter in line for Juan Francisco Estrada, as he is the No. 1 ranked contender and mandatory challenger.  Bob Arum has announced a return to Macau on July 27, where the two will square off.

viloriaAfter the meeting with his manager, Viloria told the Manila Standard that his manager would schedule a meeting with Arum some time over the next couple weeks to look at what options lay ahead for his fighter.

While he intends to continue on, Viloria did say he intends to take up to a month off before seeing what his possibilities are.  He says a return is likely sometime around September-October, with a possible fight on the same card as Manny Pacquiao, although nothing is firm at this point, obviously.

Manny Pacquiao, of course, lost in shocking fashion, when he was knocked out in the sixth round by Manny Pacquiao in their fourth fight last December.  Bob Arum has said that when he returns, it will almost definitely be at the Venetian in Macau on either the first or second weekend of October.
