Butler: “Whatever Nieva brings at Aintree, I’ll have an answer for. Then we’ll chase the Hall fight”

Ellesmere Port’s multi-title holding, super flyweight sensation, Paul Butler steps into his first contest in the Bantamweight class this Saturday night (Saturday 8th March) at Aintree Racecourse, knowing that a victory is essential to set up a blockbuster showdown with IBF World Champion Stuey Hall later this year.

The man in the opposite corner at Aintree on Saturday night will be tough Argentinian Oreste Nieva (16-2) and the fight will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation and BoxNation Live HD.  Butler was determined to impress at today’s final press conference that there would be no place for any slip ups as he closes in on his lifetime dream to become World Champion.

“To be honest I’ve not seen too much in Nieva, but everything he brings I know I’m going to have an answer for. It’s my first fight at Bantamweight and I’ve noticed more snap in my punches and will be looking to put that into action Saturday night’

‘We’ve obviously made the switch to Bantamweight to chase the Stuart Hall fight for later in the year. He’s got what I’ve wanted and worked for my whole life, a world title, and it’s a big, big domestic clash that will generate a lot of interest and should be fairly easy to make as we are both on BoxNation.”

‘But if I’m going to get that opportunity, I can’t risk any slip ups on Saturday night and have to be at my best. Hall will need to do the same against Martin Ward in his fight later this month, and I think Ward will make life difficult for the first five rounds of their fight, but then I see Hall coming through to win to set up a clash with me for later this year.”

Liverpool Flyweight Kevin Satchell square off against Isaac Quaye, the mandatory challenger for his Commonwealth Title, in the chief-supporting contest, and was in confident mood after coming face to face with his Ghanaian opponent for the first time.

Satchell said: “he’ll be coming to win, but unfortunately he’ll be going home empty handed.”

Whilst London 2012 Olympic Captain Tom Stalker, who also features on Saturday’s card, spoke of his desire to build some momentum after returning to action at The Copper Box last month, after a lengthy eight month absence:

“I felt a little bit rusty last time around, but I suppose that’s to be expected after eight months out. This time I’ll be looking to put on show in front of my fans, in my home city, and show what I’m really about.”

Boxing’s return to Liverpool’s historic racecourse this Saturday will also feature a talent-packed undercard that includes a mouth-watering dustup between two of Britain’s best young Light Middleweights, Ronnie Heffron and John Thain. Whilst the excellent Terry Flanagan will be looking to show why many are tipping him to be the best in the domestic lightweight scene.

Bantamweight prospect Ryan Farrag will face off against former British champ Jason Booth, whilst Jazza Dickens, Matty Fagan and Stephen Lewis are also all in action.
