Brizuela already has a placed etched in fight fans hearts after his rollercoaster fight of the year contender with Tommy Coyle back in February, a contest that saw each man visit the canvas four times. And with a potential Campbell-Coyle fight looming next year, the undefeated 26 year old Lightweight will be aiming to make a statement by having a far more comfortable night’s work.
“It’s what everyone’s been waiting for,” said Campbell. “I’ll have a couple of days off and then I’ll be focused on Brizuela. I’ll be ready for it come October 25. Everyone’s saying I’m going to be in for a tough test, he’s going to be in for a tough test so let’s see how it goes. Hopefully I can be the best I can be that night and give everyone a great performance.”
Coyle faces Michael Katsidis on the same night and Campbell said he has no problem in fighting his friend should the fight be made.
“Tommy and I are friends but we can put it on hold for 36 minutes, then we will be back as friends again,” said Campbell. “This is the entertainment business that we are in, and we are both entertainers.”
Campbell vs. Brizuela and Coyle vs. Katsidis lead an action packed night at the Hull Arena which sees former British Super Bantamweight champion Gavin McDonnell move on to the world stage when he faces former World Bantamweight champion Vusi Malinga over 12 rounds for the vacant WBA International Super Bantamweight title.
