Carita Lopez will now be the new opponent for McJoe Arroyo

By Rey Colon

Veteran Jose “Carita” Lopez (39-10-2, 32 KOs), who last fought in June 2011 losing by fifth round KO against current IBF bantamweight king Leo Santa Cruz, will be the new opponent for highly regarded prospect McJoe Arroyo (10-0, 5 KOs) on September 27 in San Juan on a card promoted by PR Best. Arroyo was originally slated to face Javier Gallo (18-5, 10 KOs).

The 40-year-old Lopez has lost his last three fights, and in 2009 managed to become the WBO 115lb champion, but that same year lost the crown to Filipino Marvin Sonsona. In 2010 he lost a unanimous decision to Cesar “Junito” Seda and in 2011 suffered his first KO loss against Santa Cruz.
