Here are what the fighters had to say about their preparation and their hopes for fight night on Friday, Feb. 27.

TAISHAN, Heavyweight Prospect:

“I chose boxing as a professional sport because it brings me great challenge and satisfaction. My strength as a fighter is to believe in myself in the ring and believe that I can be a champion.

“All my potential has not been revealed yet and I am training hard so I can get better and become a world champion.

“I have watched Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali and they inspire me as a fighter.  I also look up to Manny Pacquiao and Deontay Wilder and even though I am new to the sport, boxing challenges me and I like a challenge.”

NICK ARCE, Featherweight Prospect:

“My training camp is going along very good.  We are working on technique, strength and conditioning.  The goal is to be stronger and faster to win against my opponent.”

“My strength is going to be my crowd there supporting me. Having my friends, family and fans there really motivates me to train harder and give them a great show.

“My trainers have done the research so I can be prepared for my opponent’s style and be ready for fight night.”

MANUEL “SUAVECITO” ROMAN, Super Bantamweight Contender:

“I feel ready. If the fight would happen tomorrow, I would be ready.  My trainer Israel is a former world champion and I like having him in my corner”

“I am training very hard from this fight. It won’t be easy for [Diego De La Hoya] to beat me. I promised everyone a war, and it’s going to be a war.

“Having a former world champion, a warrior, in my corner has taught me a lot about my technique, there are going to be a few surprises from me on fight night”
