Complete card announced for upcoming SHOBOX: The New Generation doubleheader

This Friday, May 16, DiBella Entertainment (DBE), in association with Jean Pascal Promotions, will return to the beautiful Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, Conn., for an exciting ShoBox: The New Generation card live on SHOWTIME® (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast).

The card will feature exciting fights and promising young talent from top to bottom, including two previously announced can’t-miss televised bouts.

Headlining the card in the 10-round main event will be highly regarded undefeated super featherweight prospect Joel Diaz Jr. (15-0, 12KO’s) taking on once-beaten Tyler Asselstine (14-1, 7KO’s).

Returning to ShoBox for the second time in 2014, red-hot prospect Frank Galarza (13-0-2, 9KO’s) will face fellow undefeated prospect Sebastien Bouchard (9-0, 2KO’s) in the co-feature. Galarza-Bouchard is scheduled for eight rounds in the junior middleweight division.

Appearing on the undercard in his first scheduled eight-rounder will be DBE’s undefeated light heavyweight prospect Travis Peterkin (11-0, 5KO’s) as he looks to keep his unblemished record intact when he takes on Larry Pryor. This will be the former NY Golden Gloves champion’s second bout of 2014, after winning all four of his fights in 2013.

Fast-rising junior lightweight prospect Bryant “Pee-Wee” Cruz (10-0, 6KO’s) will be returning to the ring for the third time already this year when he challenges Atlantic City’s Osnell Charles in their scheduled six-rounder. The 24-year-old Cruz, who hails from Westchester County, NY, and has quickly become one of the more popular attractions on the local NY boxing scene, will be bringing his army of fans to Connecticut, as he looks to continue his winning ways against the veteran Charles. Cruz just recently signed an exclusive co-promotional contract with DBE and New Legend Boxing and exciting things are expected out of the undefeated prospect in the near future.

Also appearing on the card in separate four-round bouts will be three of the newest members to the ever-growing Al Haymon stable, Gervonta Davis (6-0, 6KO’s), John Magda (5-0, 4KO’s) and Kareem Martin (1-0, 1KO).

19-year-old phenom and former amateur standout Gervonta Davis (6-0, 6KO’s) will be entering the ring for the first time in 2014, after going a perfect 6-0 in 2013, when he squares off against Joshua Arocho in a four-round featherweight matchup. Davis, a 2012 National Golden Gloves, three-time National Silver Gloves and two-time PAL champion, is as talented as any up-and-comer in the game right now and is expected to quickly rise up the featherweight ranks.

The 22-year-old Magda was a 2008 NJ Junior Olympics champion and 2009 NJ Golden Gloves champion, before successfully turning pro in 2013. Magda is quickly becoming a star in his native New Jersey, thanks to his aggressive style and heavy hands. Four of his five knockouts have come in the very first round. Magda is set to see action against David Courchaine in their four-round super middleweight matchup.

Rounding out the card will be 2013 USA Nationals and National PAL champion Kareem Martin (1-0, 1KO) taking on Azamat Umarzoda in a scheduled four-round welterweight contest.
