Civic Center, Kissimmee, Florida – Orlando ‘Fenómeno’ Cruz (19-2-1, 9 KOs) defeated Jorge Pazos (20-5, 13 KOs) by a wide 12 round unanimous decision. Cruz landed flush shots and combination punches throughout the bout. The Puerto Rican southpaw Cruz, was just too fast for the flat footed, straight forward Mexican, Pazos. It was the first fight for Cruz since he revealed that he was gay, making him the first active fighter to do so. The NABO featherweight title was retained by Cruz.
Gonzalez stops Flores
Junior bantamweight prospect Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez (11-0, 10 KOs), scored a TKO victory over Danny Flores (13-2, 8 KOs), in the six and final round. The speed and power of Gonzalez was the difference against the limited Flores. Finally the referee put a halt to the fight, to save Flores from further punishment.
