David Price vs Ondrej Pala
David Price survived an early scare to claim a third-round knockout victory over Ondrej Pala in Esbjerg, Denmark.
Price was the victim of a flash knock down in the first-round when he was caught off balance by a big looping left behind the ear.
The British heavyweight was straight back on his feet and able to compose himself in the second before unleashing some devastating right hands in the third to twice send Pala crashing to the canvas and unable to continue.
Erik Skoglund vs Danilo D’Agata
Erik Skoglund successfully defended his European (EU) Light Heavyweight Title with a ninth-round stoppage of Danilo D’Agata at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg, Denmark.
The 22 year-old outclassed his awkward opponent to remain undefeated and secure his twentieth professional victory.
‘’It was a good fight,’’ said Skoglund. ‘’D’Agata was a tricky opponent. He had a good jab and was difficult to reach. I knew that as the fight went on he would tire and I would be able to get to him. I was pleased to get the stoppage.’’
Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ‘’This was a great win for Erik. He overcame a difficult opponent who could have potentially given him some problems. Erik has showed tonight that he is world class and I believe he is ready to fight for a bigger title.’’
Mateusz Masternak vs Stjepan Vugdelija
Mateusz Masternak (32-1, 23 KOs) put on a dominant display in Esbjerg, Denmark on Saturday night to earn a unanimous decision victory over Stjepan Vugdelija (8-3, 7 KOs).
‘The Master’ took control from the first bell and stayed on top throughout the eight-round contest. Vugdelijia absorbed a lot of punishment without reply but was able to last the distance.
The judges scored the fight 80-72, 80-72 and 80-70, all in favour of the Polish cruiserweight.
Dennis Ceylan vs Ivan Ruiz Morote
Dennis Ceylan outboxed Spanish Ivan Ruiz Morote at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg.
The Spaniard was never a serious challenge for the Danish featherweight. In round six Morote had space to attack, but Ceylan managed to turn the initiative in his favour. In the eighth round Morote put everything into ending the fight before the last bell, but again was unable to penetrate Ceylan’s defence.
Ceylan has had some problems with his hands in recent fights, but they were looking fine when they raised in the air as he celebrated a victory on points, with the judges scoring the fight 80-72, 80-72 and 77-75, all in his favour.
Rashid Kassem vs Goga Koshkelishvili
Rashid Kassem had to work hard to defeat the defensive Georgian Goga Koshkelishvili at Saturday’s Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg.
The Danish talent controlled the fight with his jab and the few times he was in trouble, was quick to counter.
In the sixth and final round Kassem upped his pace, and the fight was settled when the Georgian knelt on the floor with his shoulder apparently dislocated.
“He was undefeated like me, and he was a tough opponent. But it was as if he wanted to wait to deliver the decisive blow, and such a boxer is hard to fight against,“ said Rashid Kassem.
“Now it’s all about getting back in the gym and to keep working harder on getting better. I have to practice to take my chances at the right time in my fights,” said the ambitious lightweight.
It was Rashid Kassem’s fifth victory in as many fights as a professional.
Abdul Khattab vs Chris Jenkinson
Rising star Abdul Khattab defeated Chris Jenkinson via TKO at Saturday’s Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg.
The two boxers delivered a fast-paced and entertaining fight in Blue Water Dokken. And it took a fine hook from Jenkinson in the second round to open up the battle.
“I wasn’t shocked, but it woke me up. I was thinking; Game on!” said Khattab with a smile.
“The third round was also tough, but I felt in good control throughout the fight,” said Khattab, who finished the match with a great with a fourth round, showing his great potential.
“By then he was looking more at his corner than on me. He looked like he was giving up.”
Chris Jenkinson did not come out for the fifth round after having sustained a bloody gash on his neck.
Khattab celebrated his seventh win in seven fights as a professional.
Torben Keller vs Travis Hartman
Torben Keller showed good form against Travis Hartman at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg.
The North Jutland middleweight was in control from the start and worked well behind his jab. But was caught cold with a right cross by his unorthodox opponent.
“I admit that he hit me. I wasn’t focused enough in the beginning. I was too loose in my boxing. I had to knock off some rust, “said Torben Keller after the fight.
Keller was back after a six-month injury break, but he showed good form and aggressive boxing after the American’s shock start.
The American was forced to retire with a fractured finger before round four.
