Kubrat Pulev (22-1, 12 KOs) and Dereck Chisora (25-5, 17 KOs) almost came to blows at the final pre-fight press conference ahead of their European Heavyweight title fight and IBF World title eliminator on Saturday night at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
During the customary head-to-head photographs, Chisora lived up to his bad boy reputation by grabbing Pulev by the neck and attempting to pull him to the ground.
‘’I’m not messing around,’’ said Chisora. ‘’No more Mr. Nice Guy, I’m here to fight! I’m going to take Pulev to places he’s never been before, and I’m going to make him give up. He’s got nothing I’ve not seen before, and he’s never fought anyone like me. I can tell he’s nervous. He’s out of his depth and he’s going to get knocked out!”
Pulev was unimpressed by the British boxers antics and promised to get his revenge in the ring. ‘’I will cause him great pain on Saturday night,’’ said the 34 year-old. ‘’He does not intimidate me. He can talk all he wants now, but this will not help him in the ring.’’
Promoter Kalle Sauerland, who was positioned between the warring heavyweights, told fans to expect an explosive encounter on Saturday night.
‘’If Saturday’s fight is half as exciting as today’s press conference then the fans are in for a treat,’’ said Sauerland. ‘’I do not see this fight going the distance! We have two hot blooded heavyweights ready to do whatever it takes to win.’’
