When you enter the Mayweather Boxing Club, you will discover every level of fighter. From those just starting out, all the way up to the biggest name actively fighting, Floyd Mayweather, they can all be found putting their work in. One of the guys somewhere right in the middle is “Dangerous” Don Moore.
At 16-0, Moore believes his stock is on the rise, and before long he will be near the top of the list of fighters putting in work at the gym on a daily basis. It certainly isn’t a bad start to a career that has had its share of delays along the way. At 32, Moore has twice had periods of inactivity of over four years each. However, he believes those delays are behind him, and with an impressive performance in his next fight on May 3, he will have a chance to sign with The Money Team, putting management issues in the distant past.
Standing in his way is another undefeated fighter in Lydell Rhodes, who himself carries an impressive 14-0 record. What makes this fight particularly interesting is that both fighters spend a considerable amount of time training in the Mayweather Boxing Club, although Rhodes isn’t there full time. There is little doubt that both will see it as an audition for Floyd Mayweather, who has his own fight the following night against Robert Guerrero.
Another thing to keep an eye on is the location of the fight. Neither Moore and Rhodes have ever competed in Las Vegas, instead fighting all of their fights close to where they are from. The ability to adapt to a new setting under an intense spotlight could be a key as to which fighter has an advantage.
Don Moore believes he is clearly the guy who is both better suited to make those adjustments, and the better fighter overall. With all the motivation in the world behind him, it is likely the world, and Floyd Mayweather, are very soon going to find out just how good Don Moore is.
In this exclusive interview, Don Moore discusses the difficulties of his past, and the promise of his future. He talks about the move to Las Vegas, sparring with Floyd, and his desire to be signed by The Money Team. Stay tuned in the days and weeks ahead for more coverage of Don Moore as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career.
