The Olympic gold medal hero pulled out of the show earlier in February due to the ill health of his father, who had been moved to Dove House Hospice after a period of intensive care.
Campbell is targeting a summer showdown with fellow Hull Lightweight Tommy Coyle and despite initially pulling out of the show, the 27 year old stayed in the gym and as a result, he’s back on the bill and wants to fight for his father.
“After talking with my dad and my family I’ve decided to box on March 7,” said Campbell. “It’s been a difficult time for me but everyone wants me to crack on and succeed and I want to keep my momentum going as I approach an important phase of my career. I’m excited to box again in Hull on March 7.”
Coyle tops the March 7 bill in clash against former British Lightweight champion Martin Gethin, rising Birmingham star Sam Eggington challenges Shayne Singleton for the WBC International Silver Welterweight title, World-rated Super Middleweight Rocky Fielding returns to action following his hand injury, Newcastle’s Light Welterweight star Bradley Saunders warms-up for his Commonwealth title challenge, Birmingham’s young Featherweight blaster Gamal Yafai is in action alongside a quintet of local talents Tom Knight, Nathon Smith, Charlie Payton, Connor Seymour and Ryan Fuller.
