Errol Spence Jr. talks about his big fight and sparring Adrien Broner

When Errol Spence turned pro after a very successful amateur career that saw him compete in the 2012 Olympic Games, there was a fair bit of buzz surrounding him.  He was expected to make waves in the sport, but few figured it would happen so soon.

After having his first fight as a professional in November, he quickly rattled off four consecutive wins.  On May 3, he will go four his fifth win in just six months.  However, as impressive as that may be, it was for something else he really caught the eye of the boxing fans and media.

Rumor has it that, depending on who you ask, he either knocked down, or knocked out cold, Adrien Broner in a recent sparring session.  The highly rated and undefeated Broner is considered by many to be the next big thing in the sport, so if that in fact happened, obviously that would make for a big story.

Errol Spence himself denies that it ever happened.  And nobody else who is close to either side is willing to admit it happened either.  At least not for the record.  So whether it did or not, will remain a mystery for the foreseeable future.  However, whether it did or did not take place, it certainly has got the boxing world buzzing.  And that is a great thing for a young fighter trying to get his name out there.

Spence trains out of Dallas, but he has spent the week before his May 3 fight in Las Vegas training at the Mayweather Boxing Club.  While he may be quiet and unassuming in demeanor, he still wields a large presence in the gym.  It’s clear immediately he has a gift in the sport, and it is only a matter of time before the public gets to see him compete with the big names like Adrien Broner on pay-per-view.  Until then, we will just be left to speculate.
