Floyd Mayweather Sr. had an interesting evening last week, filled with highs and lows. On a high note, One of his newer fighters, Andrew Tabiti, made a huge impact in his professional debut, knocking out Andrew Howk in under a minute in the first round. The destruction awed the crowd, and Floyd Sr. says he believes it is a sign of things to come from his young protege.
A little higher up on the card, as in the main event, Mickey Bey dominated John Molina in a spirited contest, right up until midway through the final round. In the 10th, Molina, who had hung tough all evening, finally got his in, forcing the referee to come to Bey’s aid following a series of unanswered blows.
Mayweather Sr. received some criticism for his pre-round instructions to Bey, telling him to go for the finish in a fight he was clearly dominating. However, people that disagree with that advice, also fail to point out Sr. also instructed his fighter to keep his hands up and be careful. That was advice Bey did not heed, leading to his unfortunate demise.
As always, Floyd Mayweather is 100% candid when talking, so we just let him do his thing. He talks about the future of Tabiti, and how he expects Mickey Bey to rebound from his disappointing loss.
