Gennady Golovkin and Chris Eubank Jr are believed to be close to finalising a deal that would see the duo meet in a blockbuster middleweight class in September. Undefeated Golovkin has won thirty-two of his thirty-five fights by way of knock-out to date, and with Eubank Jr only recently achieving his first defence of his British middleweight title, such a fight would be a big test for the British fighter. Despite the location for the match up not having been revealed as yet, it is thought that London’s O2 Arena is the preferred option for both parties currently.
Golovkin, the unified WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO champion, defeated American Dominic Wade back in April, and is the early favourite for his clash with Eubank Jr with the bookmakers. You can check out the full boxing odds at betting site Betway, with the Brit seen as the underdog despite having lost just one of his twenty-four professional fights so far in his career. His most recent win came in the form of an impressive stoppage of the previously unbeaten Tom Doran. Such a performance certainly demonstrated Eubank Jr’s substantial credentials, and the match up with Golovkin would without a doubt attract major interest from the boxing world.
Meanwhile, fellow British middleweight Anthony Ogogo believes that he has what it takes to overcome Eubank Jr, should a fight prevail between the two in the future. Ogogo saw off Frane Radnic in ruthless fashion recently, and is eyeing a shot at his compatriot for the British title. However, having been frustrated by injury over the past two years, Ogogo is the underdog in the boxing odds from Betway for the potential fight.
In the heavyweight division, with Anthony Joshua not certain to face mandatory challenger Joseph Parker after his victory over American Dominic Breazeale, David Price has thrown his hat into the ring for a potential shot at the IBF champion. Price’s trainer Dave Coldwell has been talking up his prized asset’s chances in recent weeks, following a two round destruction of Vaclav Pejsar back in May. However, should Joshua face a fellow Brit in the near future, it looks more likely to be in the shape of Tyson Fury. Despite withdrawing from his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko due to injury, an all British heavyweight clash between the two appears likely for next year, with Joshua the early favourite with Betway to claim an historic victory.
