J’Leon Love opens up about suspension, looking forward to getting back in action

Winning the NABF title in a split decision victory over Gabe Rosado on the undercard of the Mayweather-Canelo card should have been the highlight so far in the young career of J’Leon Love.  And although it certainly would not erase the sting of losing his brother shortly before the fight, it certainly should have given him at least a little sense of comfort in such a difficult time.

Instead, to add insult to injury, the decision was overturned when Love failed a post fight drug test due to a diuretic he took in the days before the fight.  Love was experiencing a very difficult weight cut going into the fight, and the personal issues he was going through made it difficult for him to give the matter his full attention.  So in a temporary lapse of judgement, he took an over the counter drug to help him make weight.

We talked to J’Leon Love at the Mayweather Boxing Club where he was supporting his teammates on The Money Team who were in final preparations for their own fights scheduled for this Friday night on Showtime.  Love opened up to us about all he has gone through since the failed test.  While not trying to make excuses for what he did, he attempts to explain what led up to the failed test.  He regrets the poor choices he made, and looks forward to putting the matter behind him.

When one becomes a member of The Money Team, it comes with its share of negatives as well as positives.  While those close to Love have no doubt of his version of the story, there are plenty of skeptics out there eager to pounce when something negative like this happens to one of Floyd mayweather’s fighters.  For his part, Love says that mayweather has shown him support through the situation.

In addition, Love also talks about the other members of his team and what he expects to happen once he gets back into the ring.
