Lucas Matthysse considers his brutal KO of Dallas Jr. to be his best

WBC interim junior welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse considers his spectacular knockout of Mike Dallas Jr. on Saturday night in Las Vegas to be the best of his career.

“I’ve never had a knockout like that. Nothing like that at all. That makes me very happy.  It is definitely the best knockout of my career,” Matthysse said.

Lucas Matthysse is known for having particularly heavy hands, so for him to consider this to be his best knockout says a lot about the punch that floored Dallas at sent the Vegas crowd into a frenzy.

“I am very happy to get such a great knockout. This was a great start to the year. I hope that everyone really liked it.”

When pressed to explain his strategy entering the fight against a foe he was a considerable favorite against, Matthysse went in to a little detail.

“I thought that he would stay on the outside and box. I was very happy when he came out aggressive coming forward. We were able to put on a great fight,” Matthysse explained.

The fight took place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and served as the main event for a card that was featured on Showtime.  Other bouts featured on the card included Jesus Soto Karass pulling off an upset against Secuk Aydin, as well as the Charlo twins both improving on their unbeaten records.  Former Olympian Errol Spence Jr. also fought on the under card, winning inside of the first round.

Lucas Matthysse mentioned after the fight that he felt he was ready for anyone in his division.  Zab Judah was in attendance and Matthysse said he would love to have a rematch.  Judah won the first meeting in controversial fashion.  Many observers actually scored the fight in favor of Matthysse.
