Magwaca decisions Komani

Mzuvukile Magwaca set the Lwandle Hall alight on Sunday August 26 in Cape Town, South Africa with an outstanding display of boxing, picking up the vacant World Boxing Federation All-Africa Light Flyweight title and showing that he is without doubt a world champion in the making.
In front of a jam-packed hall, and in an event superbly put together by promoter Charles Mjikeko of Amandla Boxing Promotions, a star was born. With silky skills and a two handed attack, Magwaca boxed sublimely but was pushed all the way by a tough and courageous Dalisiswe Komani.

After ten entertaining and fast-paced rounds of boxing, judges Fred Van Der Ross and Rassie Erasmus scored the fight 99-91, with third judge Clifford Mbelo turning in a 98-92 tally, and while the scores were accurate, it did not in any way reflect the attacking fight by Komani.

The fact was that Komani was up against an outstanding Magwaca who moved his record to 10-0 with five victories coming inside the distance. Magwaca, who just turned 20 last month, is certainly destined for greatness if he can keep both his feet on the ground. Komani dropped to 8-5 (5).

Referee Eddie Marshall had an easy night in a clean fight, watched from ringside by special guests, and perhaps two of the greatest champions South Africa has ever produced, former World Heavyweight Champion Gerrie Coetzee and former Super Featherweight World Champion Mzonke Fana.
