Mayweather could fight Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Jnr. has hinted that he could finally face Manny Pacquiao after revealing that the ‘Pacman’ is one of the possible opponents for his next outing in May. The pair, always massive favourites in the Titan Bet best odds and two guys who have been widely viewed as the two best pound for pound fighters in the world for the best part of the last decade, have managed to avoid each other for years but it’s always been suggested that their careers wouldn’t be complete without meeting in the ring.

Mayweather maintained his unbeaten record last time out against Saul Alvarez in September, while in contrast Pacquiao has lost two out of his last three fights, but proved his doubters wrong with an impressive victory over Brandon Rios.

Amir Khan was thought to be being lined-up as a possible opponent for the American in Las Vegas on the first weekend of May but nothing has been confirmed, while Pacquiao himself is yet to name who he will face next, much to the frustration of boxing betting fans.

Rematches against Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley have been mentioned, while Russian Ruslan Provodnikov is also being talked up as a potential suitor.

There’s no doubting which fight the world wants to see though and hopes were raised when Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum admitted that his fighter was the “most logical” next step for the unbeaten American.

The 36-year-old has now further fanned the flames around the possible bout and says he would be happy to fight the Filipino and has no doubts who would win.

“My focus is May 3. I don’t know who my opponent will be,” he told Chris Robinson. “If it’s Pacquiao, it’s Pacquiao. If it’s Amir Khan, it’s Amir Khan.

“For 17 years they’ve been putting guys in front of me and I’ve been beating them. Come May they’ll put a guy in front of me, I’ll go to training camp, work hard and the results will be the same”.
