Nielsen to face Jeter for WBC Silver Middleweight Championship on February 15th

Team Sauerland announced at a press event today that Patrick Nielsen (21-0, 10 KOs) will face Tony Jeter (16-3-1, 11 KOs) for the WBC Silver Middleweight Championship on February 15th at the Albertslund MusikTeatret.

Since making his professional debut in 2009, Nielsen has been on the fast track to success. Having already won the IBF Youth, WBA Intercontinental and WBO Intercontinental belts, the Danish middleweight will now look to secure the WBC Silver Championship before challenging for a world title.

‘’I am really looking forward to this fight and the opportunity to win the WBC Silver belt,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of becoming a world champion. If I win this fight I will move even closer to a world title shot. Nothing is going to stand in my way.’’

The Dane’s title ambitions are shared by his opponent Jeter who will travel from the USA for his shot at the WBC Silver title. Despite being over 6,000 km apart, the two fighters came face-to-face for the first time today via videoconference.

‘’This is a great opportunity for me,’’ said Jeter speaking from his Maryland home. ‘’I’m in shape and ready to go. I’m expecting a hostile environment but once the fight starts it comes down to my skills against his skills. I am coming to Denmark to fight. I will be mentally and physically prepared for battle.’’

Promoter Nisse Sauerland said: ‘’We are delighted to announce that Patrick will be fighting for the WBC Silver Championship. Not only is it a prestigious title, but a victory for Patrick will pave the way for a world title shot later this year. Of course, we must not overlook Jeter who is a tough opponent and will be coming to Denmark to win.’’

Promoter Nisse Sauerland began proceedings at today’s press event with a special tribute to long time WBC President and Hall of Famer Jose Sulaiman who sadly passed away yesterday aged 82.
