O’Connor wins in Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts — Danny O’Connor (18-1, 7KOs) knocked out Eddie Soto (12-5, 4 KOs) in the fourth round. Soto went down in the first from bodyshots and barely make it out of the round. O’Conner dominated the second and third rounds as well with accurate punches. Finally Soto succumbed to the punishment and was out for the count in the fourth round. The three card event took place after an MLS soccer game that featured the hometown team, New England Revolution. Both welterweight fighters were from the New England area. Soto is from Providence, Rhode Island, and O’Conner hails from Framingham, Massachusetts.

Other Bouts:

Billy Traft (2-0, 1 KO) scored a knockout victory over Dan Bonnell (0-2) in the first round. Bonnell was dropped by a right hand near the end of the first round. The fight was waved off when Bonnell did not come out for the second round giving Traft a first round victory. The bout was fought at the super middleweight limit.

Antonio Chavez Fernandes (1-7-1) defeated fellow welterweight Noel Garcia (2-15, 1 KO), by a fourth unanimous decision. Fernandes used his height and reach advantage to win the fight. The scores were 39-37 and 40-36 twice.
