‘’The Swedish Princess’’ Klara Svensson (13-0, 5 KOs) gets her first shot at World glory when she faces Marie Riederer (15-1-1, 10 KOs) for the interim WBC Female World Light Welterweight Championship, while Swedish light heavyweight Erik Skoglund (20-0, 11 KOs) makes a third defence of his European (EU) title and challenges for the vacant IBF Intercontinental belt against Stefano ‘’The Hammer’’ Abatangelo (18-3-1, 6 KOs) on September 13 at TAP1 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
‘’I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time,’’ said Svensson. ‘’I am happy to finally get the chance to fight for a World title. I am expecting a tough fight. On paper Riederer is the best opponent I have faced so far in my career but I am looking forward to the challenge.”
‘’I have put in a lot of work at the gym. I am eager to show how I have improved. My physical conditioning is the best it has ever been. Fans are going to see a faster, more aggressive, explosive fighter and we will have to see how much of that Riederer can stand. It’s going to be a great fight and I am expecting a lot of Swedish fans to travel over to Copenhagen to cheer me on.’’
‘’This is the most important fight of my career,’’ said Svensson’s opponent Riederer. ‘’It is an honour to fight for the WBC interim title. I have watched a few of Klara’s fight and she is good boxer with good technique but she lacks power in her punches and that is where I will have the advantage. On September 13, I will make sure I bring the belt back to Germany with me.’’
Skoglund, the current European (EU) and WBC Youth World Champion, can continue his climb up the world rankings by adding the IBF Intercontinental title to his collection when he faces Abatangelo on September 13. ‘’Winning the IBF Intercontinental title would be another step up for me,’’ said the 23 year-old Swede. ‘’It would put me in a great position in the IBF rankings and could lead to a World title fight in the near future.’’
Abatangelo is no stranger to Skoglund and his coach Karsten Roewer. The 32 year-old Italian has already faced another of Roewer’s protégés, the current WBA World Light Heavyweight Champion Juergen Braehmer.
‘’I saw Abatangelo’s fight with Juergen Braehmer,’’ said Skoglund. ‘’He proved himself to be a tough, physically strong boxer with good punch resistance. He is shorter than me so I expect him come and try to fight on the inside. My plan is not to let him. I will make sure I am prepared for the full twelve rounds and even though he is a strong opponent, I am confident that I will win.’’
‘’Erik has to be wary of Abatangelo’s brawling style as the Italian likes to come in swinging, exploding with both hands,’’ said Roewer. ‘’However, physically Erik has the advantage. He will have to use his jab, countering Abatangelo with his right when he tries to jump on him.’’

Alongside the Swedish title fights the Nordic Fight Night show will feature a full undercard showcasing Scandinavia’s top boxing talents including WBC, WBA & WBO Female Champion Cecilia Brækhus (25-0, 7 KOs), who will attempt to unify the welterweight division against the IBF Champion Ivana Habazin (13-1, 5 KOs) and rising Danish stars Micki Nielsen (14-0, 11 KOs), Torben Keller (10-0-1, 3 KOs) and Abdul Khattab (7-0, 3 KOs).
