Tyson Fury is certainly not lacking in the confidence department. According to a report Tuesday on BoxingScene.com, he single plans to resurrect the heavyweight division of boxing by himself. He promises that he will rid boxing of the Klitschko brothers as well.
For quite awhile now, Tyson Fury has been calling out both Vitali and Wladamir Klitschko who are currently in possession of all four of the recognized titles in the division. Unfortunately, to date his efforts to land a fight with either have fallen on deaf ears. Instead, we will most likely see him in the ring on April 20 where he would take on former IBF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham.
Fury’s last fight was against the uninspired Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson who lost to Tyson Fury by unanimous decision in December. That fight took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Against Cunningham, Fury promised to deliver more of the same. He also mentioned that his sites are fixed on the WBC crown currently held by Vitali Klitschko.
“I’m going to snatch that WBC title,” said the confident Fury, who has been in camp previously with the Klitschko brothers. “There’s a big queue of people trying to get it in front of me, but they’re not ranked in front of me. I’m ready to go – why not let me fight next?”
Ranked fourth by the WBC, Tyson Fury went on to further bash the brothers, claiming they are a major problem plaguing boxing currently.
“I don’t like either Klitschko, they’re bad for everything to do with boxing. As soon as I get hold of them and rid the sport of them the better – that’s genuinely what I feel. They jab someone to death, when they have someone hurt they won’t jump on them and finish them. They’ve got to be screamed at and shouted at.”
