It is now official. Former WBO super bantamweight champion, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 Kos) and former two division champion, Rafael Marquez (41-7, 37 Kos) will engage in battle on August 4 in Puerto Rico. The fight is called “The War” and will be held at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon. PR Best Boxing, in association with All Star Boxing, Top Rank, and Promociones Zanfer will promote the event. It will be televised on Pay Per View. The WBO International super bantamweight title, will be on the line. It will be another chapter between a Puerto Rican and Mexican fighter, in one of the best rivalries in boxing. Both fighters come from royal boxing families. Wilfredo Vazquez Sr. is a former three division champ, as is Juan Manuel Marquez, Rafael’s brother. The press conference is scheduled for next week.
