Video: Media day with Floyd Mayweather

As usual, it was a circus inside the Mayweather Boxing Club on Thursday as Floyd Mayweather held a media day for his upcoming fight with Robert Guerrero on May 4.  Floyd did some working out for the assembled press, as well as taking questions from a variety of news outlets.

Besides Floyd Mayweather, many of The Money Team were also assembled at the gym.  Luis Arias, J’Leon Love, Badou Jack, Lanell Bellows and Ishe Smith were on hand for interviews, with all but Smith also being featured in fights on that same card.

Floyd Mayweather goes into this contest with a perfect 43-0 record.  One of the most recognizable athletes in the world, he goes into this contest as the WBC welterweight champion, while also looking to add the vacant Ring title to his resume.  In Guerrero, he faces a tough opponent who sports a 31-1-1 record.  He was last seen capturing the WBC interim welterweight title from Andre Berto last November by unanimous decision.

This build up to this fight has had more than its share of intrigue, with both fighters supplying more than their share of drama.  For Floyd, the biggest news probably came when he announced that he would be moving over to Showtime after years of fighting on HBO.  That revelation shifted the balance of power between the networks, as HBO then went on to say that no Golden Boy fighters would be appearing on their network in the future.

Robert Guerrero made national headlines when he was arrested in New York for taking a gun into the airport.  He had been in the state on a promotional tour for Showtime, although the press he received was likely not the kind that the network had hoped for.

Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero will fight on May 4 in Las Vegas at the MGM Hotel and Casino.
